TICKING DOWN 03:04
The clock in the bedroom's ticking down. Each second seems louder than the last. The man in the mirror can't be me, no, no... My youth has escaped it's wretched past. Those days I remember lighting the town. Now I feel my time is Ticking Down. Those days I remember getting high, seem so far away now, so far away now that I feel my time Ticking Down. (whispered) Baseball cards and bikes and games and called each other stupid names. Books and rules and playground fights and girls and cars, stayed up all night. Bellow, Shakespeare, Socrates, I could not get a job with these...kids and shops and Credit Cards... I wouldn't change a thing so far. Those days I remember, getting high seems so far away now, so far away now, that I feel my time Ticking Down. Tick, tick, tick, Ticking Down.

REALITEASE 02:53
Sheena was an only child. Showed her tits for Girls Gone Wild. MTV called and said, "Have a kid but stay unwed. We'll make you a TV Star---look how low we've set the bar--you can be our Georgia Trailer Queen" "You''ll share a house with 15 'friends', just bitch until the season ends." Her Mama said "Now, that's a sin!" Till she saw the dough roll in. Now she can't wait to cash those checks, the trailer's like a Multiplex. There's not an infomercial she ain't seen. Not Mama... Mama's got her own show now. Divorced her husband, bought a cow. A ten-foot Jesus on her lawn, she dresses up like Eva Braun. She bought a house, now she can hoard, put trashbags on the ironing board. Whiskey-drinking babies steal the scene. You can watch, but you can't see how truth lies in reality, in all the shit that crawls across your screen. Oh, yeah...

I should have seen all the signs in the road. Blind to the truth every time that it showed. Our eyes only see what they want to believe, and that made it easy for you to deceive... Nearly Perfect Baby, in my eyes, Nearly Perfect, 'cause I didn't recognize how Nearly Perfect Baby, even the lies were Nearly Perfect. I didn't listen to the whispers I heard. You makin' plans and I missed every word. When I talk to myself, I believe what I say, and I stop making sense with the truth in the way. Nearly Perfect... In my fantasy, there's nothing wrong with you and me. No, no... Time after time I missed the truth when it revealed, now time takes its time on the wounds to be healed. Nearly Perfect...

NOT FOR SALE 02:56
I see you coming to my door. I know what you're coming for---that little book you have clutched inside your hand, well, I know... Tell me what you have to say, and I'll tell you to go away. Nothing you have is enough to sell my soul -- you won't get what you came for. And I say, I'm Not for Sale, no you can't buy me. I'm Not for Sale. You say I'll end up in hell. I don't believe and it's just as well. If heaven's real and full of people just like you then I'd prefer to spend eternity anywhere else. I'm Not for Sale. No, you can't buy me. I'm Not for Sale.

Girl, I've known you for a while. Always loved the way you smile. If I could be the one, I would fall. Is there any chance at all? Because you seem so far away. Though I see you every day. But I would take that chance, through fire and all. If you'd be there when I fall. It's not an easy thing, looking down, from that highest place of all---it's a really long way down. So I'm standing on the edge. Will I see you on that ledge? And if I take that step, would you let me fall alone? Let me break upon the stone? Is there any chance at all? Will you be there when I fall? Or will you let me fall alone? Let me break upon the stone? Is there any chance at all? Will You Be There When I Fall?

SPEAK TO ME 03:34
I can hear you breathing, and I know you're still there. So I bend down closely, and brush away your hair. You're lost among the stars, and can't find your way. But if you can still hear me, I have something to say. The satellites are falling down. The satellites are falling down. And one by one, they close their eyes, and tumble from the sleeping skies. I spent the night beside you, and watched the blinking pulse, And when that line appeared, I thought of something else. When the last one falls, I'll be stranded here alone, with no way to say the million things I've wanted to say. The satellites are falling down... Speak To Me

And on the day I met her, there I was in the rain. She danced like a tornado, twisting out all the pain. All the boats are in from Florida to Maine, when they heard her name. You can try to run and hide but it's in vain. Here comes Jane. She grew in size and anger, swelling up from within. And unleashed all her fury on the vanities of men. All the shutters closed from Florida to Maine, we turn our eyes away. Oh, and every time I see how my life has changed, that's just Jane. We stared across the wreckage, all those lives torn apart. She swept across our beaches and left behind our broken hearts. All the boats are gone from Florida to Maine, sent across the seas. Oh and every time I see how our lives have changed, and how our fortunes wane... Oh, and every time, I see how my life has changed, I'll recall, it was Jane.

Every morning, I look in the mirror, and in my eyes I see a battlefield. I try to hide it from everyone but it's no use hiding from My Little Enemy. I remember when I was young, I didn't care about anyone. Now that I'm older I still can't find any peace of mind, running from My Little Enemy. Oh yeah...

ARMY OF HATE 04:30
I feel the winds of revolution, stirring in the air. It's time to face our evolution and the truth laid bare. Those of us who close our eyes to this reality, keep our minds from thinking free. And the Army of Hate, shoots another man down. The Army of Faith, holds another man down. One man can have a final solution and the world will turn away. This silence is your contribution that it's okay. A couple lies and a million lives are taken from this world--their blood-red banner is unfurled. And the Army of Hate shoots another man down. The Party of Hate shoots a family down. You'll fight to save our Constitution but you've never read a word. Then you turn and fight our institution when we ask to be heard. You fight against our guarantee to think and love and say... Your barrel's pointing the wrong way. And the Army of Hate... The Army of Hate holds all of us down.

TEAR IT DOWN 03:42
People living on the inside See people starving on the out. They want to keep a wall between them, and we don't like it, Tear it Down. Tell me where your family comes from. Mine came to find a better life. And if the words on Liberty mean nothing, and you don't like it, Tear it Down. People hide behind religion, and tell me how to live my life. They keep a wall of faith between us, and I don't like it, Tear it Down. TEAR IT DOWN.

People say the End is coming, we'll be on our way. When you see the End is coming you can stay or get away. Stay, or get away. Once I was an ancient sailor, they tied me to the mast. I could hear the Sirens calling, so I sang as I sailed past. I sang as I sailed past.

about

These 11 tracks are the culmination of the last two years---writing and arranging, and learning as much as possible about the recording and mixing process.
Yes, this album--er, demos--is completely home-recorded and produced.
And so I apologize in advance for those of you who may be expecting a professional and polished product.
In any case, I hope you like (and purchase!) what you hear.
All proceeds will be invested in making a better product in the future.

Self-proclaimed legend Gary West is a songwriter and lackluster musician from the suburban hills of Pittsburgh, now currently residing in the nation's oldest racist town: St. Augustine, FL.
